Surprise, Surprise, Surprise

Saturday started out like any other Saturday. Jim and Eve headed to Home Depot to buy a new bathroom sink (see Jim's blog for photos).

As the other children arose from their slumber, one at at time, I prepared breakfast, grits, eggs, bacon, biscuits and pancakes. I was so pleased that Victoria and Michael arrived early so that Victoria could have breakfast with me. We talked and watched a little TV and soon Jim was back and with the able assistance of Noah and Eve, he commenced putting in the new sink.

My hair appointment was scheduled for 1pm, so I left a little after noon to get to the Hair Salon in Stone Mountain in time for the appointment. Nancy, my hairdresser, worked her miracle and gave me a great haircut and highlights. As usual, I fell asleep under the dryer. It is so relaxing to go to the hair salon. It was a busy day and my hairdresser worked in other clients while she was doing my hair so it took a little over 2 hours and then I was on the road home.

As I exited 78 in Tucker, I remembered that I have a baby shower coming up in a couple of weeks and so I stopped at Walmart for fabric. Just as I pulled into the lot, my phone rang. Of course, no one expects me to answer my cell phone because I rarely turn it on. Jim was calling and he said that Victoria and Michael were preparing a dinner for us and he wanted to know how long it would be before I arrived home. The fabric was on my mind so I told him in a "little while". Well, it was a more than a little while and Jim called again as I was in the checkout line. When I arrived home I saw some cars and wondered what in the world was going on. Then I saw it HAPPY BIRTHDAY SUE! on the front of the garage door. Eve rushed out to tell me to close my eyes and she would lead me in the house. Jim had planned a surprise party for me - and I was an hour late - well it was a surprise for everyone! I really felt bad being late but who knew!!! I really was surprised. Victoria made the most delicious red velvet cake (see Jim's blog for photos). It was so wonderful to have friends and family there. I love suprises!

Yesterday was a different kind of surprise - SNOW! Lots and Lots of it. It was simply beautiful.
Today school was closed so Denny and I hung out together - sort of. I used my time off to catch up on the laundry (Wow, I know how to party), do the awful chore of bill paying on-line, More laundry, preparing fabric to make baby quilts for my friend who is having twin boys, and best of all time to play my bagpipe practice chanter. That was indeed fun and I loved every minute of it. I only have a few weeks until the April 25th memorial service and I am so happy to be performing again this year.

Next blog will be about the famous author I met on Thursday of last week... stay tuned!

Be kind, life is too short to do otherwise,
Sue

I do love a good surprise and I'm glad it was a happy one for you. Eve was, behind, thrilled to keep the secret, decorate the cake and help in any way possible.

I did some of the same snow day stuff at my house.

What's in the doctor's bag.com! ;)
