Some years ago,

Michael J. Fox entertained us in a very funny movie "Doc Hollywood" and while I was well aware that the movie was based on a book written by an Emory Faculty member, I had never crossed paths with him on the campus or in the hospital. That all changed in February when he walked into our office and asked to speak to the doctor I work for. I asked his name and he said it but I didn't quite catch it so I looked at his name badge - Neil
Shulman, MD - and in my best Oh My GOSH! fan voice I said, "Are you THE NEIL
SHULMAN." He said Yes, I am and with that he gave me a really big hug. I was gushing like a silly twit, "I am such a big fan of yours." I am happy to say he loved it and he reached into his bag and brought out one of his books and gave it to me. "Finally...I'm a Doctor." Dr.
Shulman is seen on Public Television with a program for children WHAT'S IN A DOCTORS BAG. He is a witty, inquisitive fellow who immediately puts everyone at ease. Victoria and the children have seen his program. He looks just like the movie idea of a professor and he has a twinkle in his eye. I was thrilled!
The other writer I corresponded with last month was Eddie
Ensley, my cousin, and friend. A couple of years ago, I bought several of Eddie's books and he autographed them. They were perfect Christmas gifts which I gave to friends and family members who I felt would appreciate them. I do hope they actually read the book. Eddie is just starting work on a new book which will be out in about 2 years. He is one of the "most gifted Catholic speakers today." When I read, PRAYER THAT HEALS OUR EMOTIONS (Harper/Collins) and also, his book VISIONS Loyola Press) I was very impressed with his
insightfulness. His writing causes one to pause and reflect on many things but most of all it very uplifting and calming. He has been very busy conducting retreats and I was so happy to correspond with him and know that he is well. He had some health problems but is not doing fine.

Well, duty calls so I have to get back to work,
Be kind every day in every way,
Sue

Sounds like you've been in touch with lots of famous folks lately!! That's pretty exciting! :)
I can't do a blog without misspelling a word - the last sentence is supposed to say "he is now doing well". Geeez
Wow! That's pretty neat. good blog about your life and excitement.
Love.
I'm glad you straightened out that typo. I didn't know whether to be happy or sad!! LOL.....
Nice blog. Always wonderful to hear from you.
I've always loved your closing to "Be Kind", but I really love the new one. I hope you keep using it because we can all use a reminder on this subject!!
Love ya!
I think my mom actually got to meet Doc Hollywood once as well. I really enjoyed his books as well.
I wasn't going to say it, but I've been egged on:
It seems you have one side of your family who is an inspired Catholic writer and speaker and the other side of your family are adequate Catholic readers and listeners, so does that make you the "Mormon in the Middle"?????
LOL.....
Sorry, I just had to say it!!!!
Love ya!!
