The weather is spectacular and there is a hint of Fall showing in the leaves and in the nice cool evenings and early morning. The weather man said that because there are no Sun spots our drought will likely continue and we may have a colder than usual Winter. As long as we don't have an Ice storm I will be pleased.
Jim made a delicious pasta and peppers dish for dinner. Of course, he will say he just threw it together but it just shows his natural cooking talent. At the Emory Farmer's market yesterday, I bought Okra. Jim and I just ate and ate and ate fried Okra - as if it were popcorn. Yum Yum. I soaked the sliced Okra in buttermilk then coated it with cornmeal with a small amount of flour added to the mix and salt and pepper. Of course, I cooked it in an iron skillet in melted butter Crisco.
My friend Samantha tagged me to list 7 things no one would know about me. Since as a family we have already done that, I won't be tagging anyone else but Samantha didn't see my previous blog (which I think we did on the other blog site). Heck, I can't even remember what I said on the earlier site. My memory is certainly not improving with age. Sigh....
(1) One thing that comes to mind that most people don't know about me is that the first time I voted it happened to be a presidential election and my Daddy and went together to vote in Phenix City, Alabama. I voted for Barry Goldwater.
(2) This memory is a bit embarrassing, when I was in Elementary school, I choked on a Lifesaver. Fortunately, they have a hole in the middle and they dissolve. My throat was sore for a long time.
(3) Every one wants to look good for their Senior photo so naturally I bleached my own hair. Instead of blonde hair, I looked like a carrot - it was a learning experience. Hair coloring is not for the faint of heart. Professionals should do hair coloring.
(4) I don't think many people are aware that peppermint makes me sneeze.
(5) I collected the complete set of Nancy Drew Mystery books (thanks to my mother) which I gave to Victoria to enjoy and hand down to her daughters.
(6) My love for target shooting started when my parents gave me a BB gun at the age of 12.
Last but not least, (7) The real reason I wanted to learn to play the bagpipes was to play Amazing Grace, my favorite hymn. The first time I played that at a Memorial service was a dream come true.
Well, it is almost time for the Vice Presidential debate to start so I better wrap this up.
Be kind,
Sue

I keep hoping that our weather will cool off. I suppose I should not want that until after Maddy's here and home, but it's just so dang warm here right now. LoL. At least we aren't still over 100 anymore!! Once the leaves really start to change, you should post some pictures. Not every area of the country gets to experience that!! ::WINK WINK:: :) Love ya!!
Forget Sarah Palin!!!!
I have a woman who comes complete with a BB gun AND bagpipes!
She also likes my cooking; What more could a man want...
