Well, it's Wednesday and that means getting my senior citizen discount at Kroger tonight. Whoo Hoo!
This morning I was thrilled to hear Noah on 104.7 The Fish do his Junior Joker Joke of the day. He was very enthusiastic. Love that little fellow bunches and bunches!
The beautiful Fall weather is making me have Happy Feet. Of course, Dancing with the Stars is back so I just love to live vicariously though all the dancers. Oh, to be able to dance like they do! WOW That would be something to wish for.
Monday evening, we went out with Nancy and Jim to celebrate Jim's birthday and our anniversary. We had the most delicious babyback ribs - oh man were they good. Yummmmm. Thanks Nancy and Jim for a wonderful evening! Celebrations are so much fun!
Peggie asked us all to share a childhood memory from time to time on our blogs. I have been thinking about lots of them but one that comes to mind is the 6th grade class trip from Phenix City by way of Columbus, Georgia to Atlanta. It was a magic place to me because of my deep love of Southern history and Gone with the Wind. Atlanta was very different in those days. You could still see the tracks where the trolleys had run downtown. The 6th grade class ate at the S&W cafeteria. In those days girls didn't wear jeans to school or to any special events so we wore dresses and rode on the Nancy Hanks Train. It was a trip we had looked forward to since first grade. It was an adventure for us small town children to go to the big city of Atlanta. Stone Mountain was not a resort then and undeveloped. Not touristy at all. I have photos from those days but alas I am at work and don't have them on this computer. It was a memorable trip. I loved school and this trip was a wonderful reward and end to elementary school days.
I'll try Peggie's advice and when I can't think of something to blog about, I will dip into my memory banks and share events.
Be kind, Sue

Good memories of by one days is what makes us smile when no one is around and we alone with our thoughts.
Good blog. I'll bet you more yo share. your childhood was some different from the Towhey family.
Love.
What a great story and a fun memory for you. By the time we moved to Atlanta the carving was already completed and Stone Mountain was already a park. Thanks for sharing. I hope you and everyone else will share some fun memories when there's nothing else going on. I'm sure our childhoods were much more entertaining than our ho-hum adult lives are!!! Again, great blog. I look forward to more.....Love ya!!
Cool memory! I'm glad you have photos somewhere. I was worried the images were like the Lascaux cave paintings. :O ;)
Well, I think being in 6th grade in that year I would have tons O' fun. LOVE YA. Hope the senior Citizen discount gets you ton O' stuff. Rach
Was the train a steam engine? Was Stone Mountain just a hill? Did you ever get back home?
Maybe Rachel can write the "true" story for all of us. Perhaps a movie deal?...
I like Peggy's recalling a memory idea for blogs. I could just picture your trip and it sounded so nice.
More birthdays.. WHOO HOO! Fun fun fun!!
Two other memories from that time period (my kids call it 'back in the day')
First - going to the Rialto theater to see the first "Beach Party" movie starring Annette and Frankie, for 50 cents.
Second & best -in the fall going to "the Fair" at the old Lakewood Fairgrounds. Our 4-H club took a bus every year, and we drove down from Dawsonville. For $5-$10 you could eat have corn dogs and do almost all the rides since it was only 25 cents per ticket. Fun,fun.
PS - Sue, did Jim see the link to David's blog? I esp. want him to see David in his scout uniform.
