Happy Birthday to my sweetheart - JIM!
Happy Anniversary, Too.
It's a double header day for us. Thanks for the lovely roses, darlin'. Jim had an able assistant in selecting just the right flowers -roses and carnations - Eve loves to assist Grandpa Jim in all his pursuits.
I am at work so I don't have access to any of my photos from the weekend. I am sure Jim and Victoria will have lots of photos of the many birthdays. We are all on a sugar high from all the Birthday cookie mania and the delicious cake Victoria made for Jim. It was so cute - a DUCT TAPE CAKE. She is such a clever girl. It was so yummy that Noah ate at least 4 pieces!
As Jim mentioned in his blog, Denny's school 30 year celebration was very touching. Denny started at the Center before they moved to the present location so he has been there quite a bit longer. Watching the others receive their awards for being at the center 30 or more years brought back many memories. One of the things we noted was that many of the people there have already lost both parents and now live in group homes. We are so fortunate to have Denny at home with us. One of the bittersweet events occured the next day when we were told that our favorite staff member who is on leave because of a broken hip and hand has resigned. Her doctor suggested that she do that because this was not the first time she has been injured at the center and at her age the doctor said he might not be able to fix her up the next time. She is a fragile lady. We are heartsick but really do understand. I had a good cry while Jim pointed out that this was best for her. Denny will miss this wonderful lady who has been such an important figure in his life. When it comes to change, I am as autistic as Denny sometimes. (Jim will agree, I am sure).
We had a fabulous time when Victoria, Michael took us all out to dinner. The children were well behaved and everyone ate too much - can't get better than that!
Saturday morning, Eve, Noah and I went to the movies to see IGOR. Our friend Miss Carol went, too. It is a delightful, funny and creative cartoon about the classic battle of good over evil. We all loved it.
Regarding Peggie's most recent blog, I took her advice and read the links she provided into the world of another family. It was very poignant. Thanks Peggie for sharing all this with us. I am still trying to decide which childhood memory to share with every one (per Peggie's request). I think that's a good idea. I promise to do that in my very next blog.
Be kind, Sue

I don't think you got the first comment I sent today , if you did, ignore this one, except for David's blog address- I was so happy when MIchelle told me that you had caught her blog. She was wondering how in the world you found her tho - I told her I figured it was thru Kris Heiss K.
Congratulations to you and Jim. You are an inspiration to everyone, esp parents with children with disabilities. Be sure to check out David's new blog. Love to all, Lisa, Rusty and David Lee www.davidjesselee.blogspot.com
