April showers bring May flowers - Bring it on!!!

Happy Friday to All

We took a mini vacation last weekend to Calloway Gardens, near Pine Mountain.  It was alive with Azaleas and all manner of lovely Spring flowers.  Also, a lot of families finishing out their Spring School Breaks.

We did lots of walking in the Gardens (and driving, too) to see all the different features:
The butterfly house - it is always too warm for me in the butterfly house but they like it and it is their home.
The Day Horticultural center - they don't do topiary features any more but it is still one of the loveliest places in the gardens.

The Discovery Center which includes the Birds of Prey shows is Jim's favorite place.  He loves to sit in the rockers and relax and rock the day away.  There are 2 shows at the Birds of Prey amphitheater but Denny wasn't to keen on sitting near all those people.  You know he loves his space.

My favorite place is nestled in the woods and has lovely stain glass windows - the Chapel.  On Sat and Sun a lady comes from Pine Mountain to play the organ for a couple of hours each day.  It is in deed Heavenly.  Once a couple of years ago, we saw a couple preparing for a wedding there.  It is next to the water and so serene.  I love to sit in the pew and pray.  If I lived closer to Calloway Gardens, I would be there every weekend.

The Mountain Inn is famous for their buffet breakfast and dinner on the weekend.  We can testify that they live up to their reputation.  Our plates were piled high in the morning with eggs, grits, bacon, sausage and biscuits covered with gravy.  Friendly is the key word for all the staff there. Our plan is to go back in the Fall.  They should hire me to do commercials for them I love it soooooo much.

Just kick off your shoes, forget your troubles come on get happy, count your blessings and sit under the tree and enjoy a cool breeze ....... now that's a vacation, mini or otherwise.
