Corn beef and cabbage - that's what I hope to find on the menu tonight when we take Denny out to eat. We usually go out on Thursday but this week there is a celebration for the birthday of the Relief Society at church. (our LDS womens' organization which provides comfort and charity).
Last weekend, we had a fun event. The multi-activity room at church was turned into a "cruise ship" and we had our photos made and an evening of great entertainment. This weekend the Young Women at church had a fund raiser for summer camp. They decorated the same room but this time it was a Bistro and they served yummy Italian dishes and beautifully decorated treats. They even had a cake auction. It was so much fun we didn't want to leave.
Sunday Jim wasn't feeling too good with his cold so he napped a lot after church then he and Aaron when over to the Scout Hut for the special Woodbadge ceremony for Michael. We are so proud for him. That is a tremendous honor and lots of hard work to be included in Woodbadge. I thought the ceremony was at 5:30 but actually it was a 5pm so I got there just as it was over. So much for modern communication. Afterward, everyone came back to our home for some grits and more in celebration.
On Friday night, Victoria, Suzanne and Jason and moi motored down to Georgia Tech, Ferst Center for the Eileen Ivers concert. She is the pre-eminent exponent of the Irish fiddle in the world. She is a pioneer in the Celtic and World music genres. Eileen is the daughter of Irish immigrants and grew up in the Bronx, New York. Her latest CD is Beyond the Bog Road. We were treated with the visual images of Ireland which played behind the musicians. The new CD celebrates the journey of the Irish immigrants to American and Canada and brings to focus the roots of bluegrass and country music.
Well, St. Patrick's Day is Wednesday and I hope everyone who blogs (or used to blog or wish they blogged) would write a blog on St. Patrick's Day. This is a challenge to all Towhey family and extended bloggers. Sometimes I think blogger have all left for Facebook. I have not succumbed to the lure of Facebook yet.
Have some cornbeef and cabbage and see me on the next blog.
Be sweet and think Irish music!
Sue
