Stephanie and I had a treat last night. We attended a House concert in Decatur, GA. Suzanne and Jason were busy and couldn't make it after all. I think anyone who plays the guitar would have really loved the entire evening. It was up close and personal - perhaps a little like it was before TV took over our lives and folks entertained themselves in their living rooms.
The Celtic Community in Atlanta has lots to offer and having an intimate living room concert is just one of many ways to enjoy Irish music and much more. We have a network that keeps us in touch with all that is going on in the area. So many of the performances are a little far away and during the week. Since I get up at 3:30am, during the week is not an option if it takes more than 20 minutes to drive there.
Gerry O'Beirne, singer, songwriter and master musician, was the performer at the House Concert. Unfortunately for him Southwest Airline dropped one of his guitars and he has had to borrow guitars at all his concerts since arriving in L.A. He had other guitars with him as well. he plays 6 and 12 string guitars and he even had an "Irish" ukulele. The instrumentals were especially mesmerizing. His skill and talent - fab. You can go to his website and listen to selections gerryobeirne.music.com
