So Far So Good - Happy Wednesday

It has been a very good week so far. Yesterday I had dinner at the Lucky Key to celebrate my friend Kathleen's 77th birthday. Her son Gary joined us and we laughed a lot about all the science fiction things we enjoy, especially Dr.Who. Gary lived in Britain and has a vivid memory of the early years of the series. Michele and I must visit Kathleen in her new retirement apartment near the Atlanta History Center where she volunteers as a docent at the Tullie Smith House.

The phone rang at the office and my friend Donna asked if I could have lunch with her. She was at Rehab to followup her treatment for a stroke she suffered a few years ago. It was so good to catch up on her and her family. It also brought back special memories of all the happy times when Donna was my next door neighbor. Donna taught me how to make authentic tacos because she has grown up in New Mexico and Arizona. In fact I still make them and everyone seems to love them. On Friday nights we would have community dinners with our friends. Sometimes we had food eating contests. Donna's husband Ray always won the Krystal eating contests and the taco eating contests, too. It was a time when we would sit on the porch and just talk..... TV wasn't all that important to us. It was the early 70's and those were fun times and we were fortunate to have so many good neighbors and made friendships that have lasted over the years.
Special thanks to Peggie for giving the links to cjanerun. It is everything she said it was and I love to check in to see what progress has been made since the accident and one does get a sense of the great love this family has for one another. Strangers - yet not so different in the things they hold precious.

Be Kind, Sue

You are so welcome for the link. I'm enjoying watching NieNie's children growing up with extended family. I can't help but believe our family would jump to the task in the same manner if the need arose.

It's great to hear of your memories of old friends. I, too, have some long time friendships and they are so special.....I miss the "good old days" of sitting outside with friends and not worrying about what is on TV. We had some of those friends when we were in Nashville and we could share our generous back deck and beautiful sunsets (and lots of margaritas).....We're hoping to cultivate some relationships like that in South Carolina in the near future.....

Keep on blogging.....

Love ya!!
